NJ Transit train engineer killed young man Lorenzo Bautista, of Plainfield
A New Jersey Transit train struck and killed an 18-year-old man near the Plainfield station on Saturday, officials said.
Lorenzo Bautista, of Plainfield, was hit at 6:40 p.m., a New Jersey Transit spokeswoman said.
Raritan Valley Line train 5530 left Raritan at 6:15 p.m. and had 30 passengers aboard. The eastbound train was due in Cranford at 6:54 p.m.
Service was suspended until about 11 p.m. while New Jersey Transit police investigated.
