NEPTUNE, NJ - A New York man was pronounced dead on Monday after being struck by a Long Branch-bound New Jersey Transit train in Neptune, officials said.

Stephen B. Mangold, 54, of Bardonia, New York was struck and fatally injured at approximately 11:50 a.m. near 11th Avenue and Main Street in Neptune, a New Jersey Transit official told Patch.

The train departed Bay Head at 11:21 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Long Branch at 12 p.m., the spokesman said. There were approximately 60 people on board the train at the time of the incident.
