NJ Transit bus company and their bus driver Union wear the blood on their hands: Manslaughter at its best

For more than 20 years, New Jersey pedestrians and passengers have been thrust with the injustice of killings caused by NJ Transit /Coach USA bus drivers and train engineers.

New Jersey railroad tracks and roadways have been a death penalty for innocent citizens caused by public transportation drivers. These deaths have not been acknowledged; under the former Chris Christie administration and now Governor Phil Murphy. The vast sweeping of these victims' deaths under the rug is considered an absolution description for one of New Jersey's greatest sins. The destruction of justice for NJ Transit/Coach USA victims is a turning point in New Jersey's civic life. These people are not a statics they are someone's loved ones whose life has been stolen and ignored.

Sadly, these local Jersey journalists and editors do not write about all the lives that fall victims to NJ Transit's deadly bus drivers and train engineers. Jersey press and Governor Murphy act as if the bus drivers who were victimized by Covid are valuable, but the victims who died by NJ Transit drivers are not valuable.

New Jersey leader Governor Phil Murphy,  Transportation Commissioner Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti , CEO Kevin Cobertte, NJ Transit Board of Directors, Coach USA Director Sean Hudge, and other politicians have the power to make a change, but they do not acknowledge these deaths.

Darrell Lampley, vice-president of ATU local 819, Ray Greaves, ATU International vice-president, Jerome Johnson, general chairman of UTU local 60, Pablo Gonzalez, president of ATU Local 820, NJ State Council chairman, and an NJ Transit board member keep these bus drivers on the road after they killed an innocent pedestrian.

Governor Phil Murphy gave his condolences to Covid victims, passing laws to mandate mask-wearing and other laws. He does press releases about how many trained professional engineers and bus drivers graduated from training. However, he does not say anything about the lives murdered by the so-called trained professional drivers.

The Governor smiles on TV commercials, saying he keeps the people in New Jersey safe, which is all misleading information he conveys to the Jerseyan. Two epidemics have plagued New Jersey that are killing people. They are Covid and the increasing deaths by transit public transportation drivers. However, only one epidemic is getting all the attention, and that is Covid victims.

Kevin Corbett does not make any statement about the dead body in the street killed by an NJ Transit bus driver. The CEO o NJ Transit stays silent and does not often condolences to this victim killed in the street. He does not acknowledge the death of the innocent pedestrian death.

In June, Governor Phil Murphy praised Tiran Billups, 65, who was the leader of one of NJ Transit's largest bus union locals, for his commitment, such as personally handing out masks and gloves to union members to make sure they had needed safety equipment to protect them from the coronavirus.

Nevertheless, the Governor of New Jersey does not acknowledge or give his condolence to the pedestrian killed by an NJ Transit bus driver or a Coach USA bus driver operating an NJ Transit bus. He sweeps this person's death under the rug, and the bus union keeps these drivers on the road.

NJ Transit CEO Kevin Corbett did not go to the newspaper to give his condolence to this victim killed by the NJ Transit bus driver who crashes into this car.

However, Kevin said at a board of directors meeting, describing James Moeschen, 80, a bus driver from Ridgefield Park, based in the Oradell garage. As beloved by commuters who rode his bus for 23 years.

There is no accountability from drivers, NJ Transit officials, and others. In act often, the victims are blamed.

Gov. Phil Murphy did not offered his condolences to the above victim family who was killed by an NJ Transit bus driver or Coach USA bus driver who drivers NJ Transit route.

Nevertheless, Gov. Phil Murphy offered his condolences to Shanda Stokes family.”, saying she was a person who “lived out her faith.”

“She was very unique,” Ali said. “There will never be another Shanda Stokes.”

Murphy's silence about these ongoing deaths shows he supports NJ Transit bus drivers, train engineers, and the subcontracted bus company killing citizens. We need a governor that caress about all human lives not those fit his political agenda.

Sadly, the local news and newspaper do not follow up with the victim's family to know the truth, not what NJ Transit, Prosecutor, and Coach USA spokesperson tell. The public has a right to know whether these drivers have many accidents or whether they are held accountable by disciplinary panels or suspend from their job without pay or receiving their pension. It is conceivable that one driver could be responsible for more than one death and still be on the job. It is terrible that the news media has ignored the problem and only reports individual crashes and deaths and not looks deeper into the problem. It is all about politics, not social justice or awareness.

"All too often, police hastily exonerate drivers while erroneously blaming bicyclists and pedestrians for their deaths. New Jersey needs to implement a bill of a Right of Way Law that will hold up to the top penalty that is relatively minor: up to 120 days in jail and $10,00 in penalties.

As an NJ Transit and Coach USA pedestrian advocate, I will "keep working with advocates and government partners until New Jersey streets are significantly safer for cyclists and pedestrians." These killing have to stop, and there should be no more blood on the road from supposedly highly qualified trained bus drivers.

These victims live matters killed by their deadly bus drivers, just like the NJ Transit workers killed by Covid.

New Jersey DA Gurbir S. Grewal needs to come under fire for being inconsistent in his prosecution of drivers who are killing these innocent pedestrians by the state's largest bus company and NJ Transit subcontract bus company Coach USA drivers who are driving NJ Transit route.

Another Life Lost to NJ Transit: When Will It End? Early Sunday morning, tragedy struck in Newark when an NJ Transit bus hit two pedestrians, leaving one dead and another seriously injured. According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the incident occurred at 12:18 a.m. on the 400 block of Springfield Avenue. Koran Tajhai Dupree Baker, a 25-year-old Newark resident, succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The second victim remains hospitalized, fighting to recover. Here we are in 2025, and NJ Transit buses continue to take lives under Governor Phil Murphy’s administration. How many more people must be injured or killed before real accountability is enforced? It’s time for action. A class action lawsuit needs to be filed against NJ Transit on behalf of all living victims and the families of those who have lost their lives due to reckless bus drivers. These drivers must be held accountable—this is not just negligence; these are murders on wheels . NJ Transit has ...
